The 2012 Cadillac XTS Feature Reviews and Rating

With the XTS, GM’s luxury-car division has made the difficult decision to replace the front-drive DTS and rear/all-wheel-drive STS sedans with a single car that it hopes doesn’t drive away current buyers of  both. Last year, U.S. buyers (many of them probably bearing coupons) scooped up about 23,000 of these models, or nearly 40 percent of Cadillac’s car sales.

The DTS, especially, looks out of whack with Cadillac’s rumored future product plan, which is performance oriented. One of Cadillac’s goals is to move the CTS up in size and prestige to become a true rival to the BMW 5-series and the Mercedes E-class. Also, the company is to bring in a smaller car, the ATS, which will line up against the C-class and the 3-series. But Cadillac has a lot of loyal DTS buyers, people who gladly pay almost $50,000 for an old-fashioned American luxury cruiser. As one insider tells us, “Why walk away from such a profitable niche in the marketplace?”

Cadillac’s front-drive STS and DTS replacement is shaping up, and we get a peek at the interior.

Update: Our spy shooters have nabbed several great new pictures of the XTS, including an interior shot, so we’ve updated the story below. Additionally, this article previously ran with a few shots of another future Caddy in the mix. Those pictures are of the smaller ATS; fresh images of that car are here.

We’ve known for some time that Cadillac is working on a smaller rear-wheel-drive car to battle the BMW 3-series, likely to be called ATS. Other intel has recently uncovered plans to crown the brand’s range with something big.

2012 Fiat 500 Review and Pricing

The 2012 Fiat 500 is out in the wild now, streaming out of more than a hundred new Fiat showrooms across the country, as Chrysler and Fiat firm up their alliance and find new, inventive ways to get high-gas-mileage cars to America quickly. The 500s been on sale for years in Europe; now its been engineered to meet U.S. safety and marketing standards, and to be built in a North American plant, too.

It could hardly have arrived at a better time. Gas prices are over $3 a gallon, and the 500s nearly 40-mpg fuel economy gives it at least one convincing argument to park itself in the garages of small-car buyers ever
ywhere. But unlike other subcompact buyers with big EPA numbers, the 500 has a heady dose of style, from its heritage-induced proportions to the mix-and-match color play of its pint-sized interior.

Nearly 30 years after Fiat sold its last car in the U.S., the 2012 Fiat 500 officially makes its debut at the Los Angeles auto show. Cute as a button—or at least a New Beetle or Mini Cooper—the 500 will be powered by a 101-hp, 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 97 lb-ft of torque when it goes on sale in January. The little four-cylinder is assembled in Dundee, Michigan, and utilizes variable valve timing and lift to achieve a best of 29 mpg city and 37 highway when e
quipped with the manual transmission. A multinational effort, the 500 is being assembled in Toluca, Mexico, in the factory that used to screw together Chrysler’s PT Cruiser.

In terms of retro-futurism, the 2012 Fiat 500 shares more with the VW New Beetle than the Mini Cooper. The 1957-75 500s rear-mounted two-cylinder engine is now a 1.4-liter MultiAir four, up front with the drive wheels. While the original was almost microcar-tiny, the modern take is now merely small, as its large enough to meet safety and crash standards. Its sub-Mini, sub-Beetle small, notes Laura Soave, head of the Fiat brand in North America.
"Technically, based on overall length, the 500 is an a-segment car," she says. That makes its direct competition the smart fortwo and the upcoming Scion iQ.

2012 Honda Accord Review and Pricing 2012 Honda Accord Preview

The 2012 Honda Accord is the best car for you if you want one that’s generously sized and highly capable and don’t mind that it isn’t terribly gorgeous or cutting-edge.

The 2012 Honda Accord will be virtually unchanged from the 2011 Honda Accord and likely close the door on a basic design that dates to model-year 2008. Carrying over minor model-year 2011 updates, the 2012 Accord returns as a four-door sedan and two-door coupe. Both will again offer four- and six-cylinder engines, and the sedan w
ill remain among the largest cars in the midsize class. Though newer Accord competitors furnish a wider range of features at various price points, none better balances roominess, build quality, and driving satisfaction. The best 2012 Accord value remains a four-cylinder sedan in midrange EX trim at around $25,000.

The cooling duct and fog light recesses on all models have been re-profiled with the taper of these areas given a more aggressive line, giving the car a more planted appearance.

The rear of the sedan model has been subtly enhanced with the rear lights having a light red finish for the reversing light and indicators to match that of the fog light, giving a balance to the rear styling. The exclusive styling of the sedan is rounded off with a light chrome garnish above the rear licence plate on most models and a dark chrome finish on Type S grade cars. The new exterior design cues are finished off with three new colours consisting of Alabaster Silver, Graphite Lustre and Celestial Blue Pearl added to the line up.

2012 Victory High Ball Review and Release

2012 Victory High-Ball, 2012 Victory High-Ball, 2012 Victory High-Ball, 2012 Victory High-Ball 2012 Victory High-Ball, 2012 Victory High-Ball, 2012 Victory High-Ball..

When the designers of the 2012 Victory High-Ball went to work, they had one main idea in mind: create a bad-ass machine.

This is evident with the no-nonsense styling of the 2012 High-Ball, from the shorty-front fender to high-rise bars to the spoke wheels to the whitewall tires.

And talk about an engine...how about the power from the same 106/6, Stage 2 V-Twin that the Victory Freedom uses, which puts out 97 bhp?

Regarding paint, the 2012 Victory Highball sticks to the bad-ass philosophy, and is only available in one scheme: Matte Black. The only white on the bike comes from tasteful white tank sides, and the fat white-walls of the tires.

Simply put, everything from the mirrors to the dual exhausts on the Victory High-Ball is black: handlebars, headlight bucket, triple trees, frame, fender struts, cylinder heads covers - all black.

The bodywork on the High-Ball features the Victory Vegas signature raised spine running the length of the bike atop the fenders and the tank, and the frenched in tail light that keeps the lines smooth out back.

Among bobber- and stripper-style bikes from major OEMs, the High-Ball delivers a unique styling that looks like it just arrived from a pricey custom shop.

2012 Victory Highball Features:

Most Performance: Its got the largest-displacement engine, the most horsepower and the most torque.
Lowest Seat Height: Cruise in comfort down low while reaching up to the too-cool high-rise bars.
Best Value: The High-Ball delivers the most performance at the lowest MSRP.
Coolest Styling: Sure, judging styling is subjective, but come on - look at this bike
- its as much fun to look at the details as it is to twist the throttle.
High-rise handlebars are adjustable and can be set in the upright position or laid back. The controls mount on the bars in either position and the cables reach in both positions, needing only simple hand tools
to adjust.
16" lace wheels with 130 and 150mm Dunlop tires with whitewalls. Stainless steel spokes and Gloss Black wheels and hubs.
Freedom 106/6 V-Twin: Fuel-injected, counter-balanced, 97 hp & 113 ft-lb of torque.
Features a solo driver seat and footpegs.
Single-gauge instrumentation with speedo, tach, tripmeter, warning lights & more.
A 2-into-1 exhaust (black, naturally) will be available and most Pure Victory Gear accessories designed for the Victory Vegas, including passenger seats and passenger floorboards or pegs, also fit on the High-Ball. Its easy to personalize the bike to the way you want it, and build the perfect bike for you.
The High-Ball MSRP is $13,499 (US 49 state). For complete details about the High-Ball and other Victory models, and for a Victory dealer locator, visit victorymotorcycles.com.
